At Babel, God scattered the nations. At Pentecost, he calls them home. In Day 8 of our Ascension to Pentecost series, the Spirit-filled disciples spill out of the upper room speaking in languages they've never learned โ€” proclaiming Jesus as king to every nation that once scattered from the Tower of Babel. This is the direct reversal of everything that went wrong. Babel was a power grab โ€” rebellious humanity reaching for a rival throne, only to be scattered and divided. Pentecost is the answer: the true king ascended, the Spirit poured out, the nations called back. But there's another layer. Jews in Jesus' day celebrated Pentecost partly to remember Mount Sinai โ€” the moment God gathered a mixed multitude of nations out of slavery and made them one people. In Acts 2, another mixed multitude is gathered. Another kingdom proclamation goes out. In every language. What Sinai began, Pentecost fulfills. Where Babel divided, Pentecost restores. The nations that once suffered under rival gods are welcomed into a kingdom of forgiveness and peace โ€” not for one people or one language, but for every people and every language. ๐Ÿ“– Series: Ascension to Pentecost โ€” a 10-day devotional journey ๐Ÿ“… Day 8 of 10
