Even though I planned a different video, I was continually interrupted by the common defense of church sayings that many assume are scripture. This video addresses prevalent bible misconceptions and misquoted bible verses that have become part of christian myths. My goal is to guide you back to biblical truth and god's word, encouraging a deeper understanding of your faith through scripture meditation.
Most Christians don’t realize how much of what gets quoted in church… isn’t actually Scripture.
Some of the most common Christian sayings sound biblical. They feel comforting. They get repeated in moments of pain, tragedy, repentance, and prayer.
But what happens when tradition starts replacing the text?
In this episode, Biblical Expositor and author Gerald C. Lewis, Sr. reveals the real danger of “phantom scriptures” — church phrases that have been repeated so often, many believers assume they’re in the Bible.
This isn’t about word games.
This is about accuracy.
Because when people build their faith on things God never actually said, the consequences are real.
Watch carefully.
You may never hear certain Christian sayings the same way again.
📌 In This Video, You’ll Discover:
• Why Christian misquotes are not harmless
• How phantom scriptures quietly reshape theology
• What happens when believers expect God to fulfill promises He never made
• Why returning to the actual text matters more than ever
📖 This Video Is For You If:
• You love Scripture and want biblical clarity
• You’ve heard church sayings your whole life but never verified them
• You want a faith grounded in what God actually said
• You’ve ever asked, “Wait… is that really in the Bible?”
My name is Gerald C. Lewis. I’ve served in pastoral ministry for over 16 years, and one of the deepest burdens I’ve carried throughout that time is helping believers anchor their faith in what Scripture actually says, not simply in what we’ve heard repeated in Christian culture.
Over the years, I’ve sat with people in grief, fear, and confusion who were clinging to phrases they sincerely believed were Bible promises. And in those moments, I realized how important it is to respond with compassion, but also with clarity, because when we attribute words to God that He never spoke, it can quietly distort our understanding of Him.
My goal in these teachings isn’t to argue over semantics. It’s to bring us back to the authority, precision, and power of the biblical text itself, so that our faith is built on truth, not on well-meaning misquotes.
