His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the world has gone after him.” — John 12:16-19
Even at the end of Jesus's ministry, the disciples are still learning and growing in their understanding. This is the nature of a relationship with Jesus — there is no end to what we can learn about him. Our limited mental capacity will not comprehend the unlimited wisdom of Jesus in one moment. Therefore sometimes we are going to be confused about what he is doing.
Many believing men are perplexed about what Jesus is doing in the world and their lives today. This is just like the disciples felt here. But in the confusion, we discover it's essential to hold fast to the teaching of Jesus with faith. We must faithfully and with faith subject our mind, heart, and soul to his teaching even when we are confused about what he's doing. In doing so, we allow Jesus to be glorified in and through our lives. Later the disciples remembered this moment and gained clarity about what Jesus was doing in light of the resurrection. We, too, will gain clarity the longer we walk with him and remain faithful even when confused. Your understanding might be limited today, but in faith, the transformative power of Jesus works through you by faith.
You may face challenges, doubts, and uncertainties today, but you must hold fast to Jesus and his teaching. The world needs hope, healing, and salvation. Your faith is a witness to his transformative resurrected power. By remaining faithful in the challenges, doubt, and uncertainties, you become a testimony to his glory, which is also attractive to others.
So, press on, fellas.
ASK THIS:
In your journey of faith, can you recall a time when you felt confused or uncertain about what Jesus was doing in your life or the world? How did you respond during that season of confusion? How can you apply the lesson of faithfully holding fast to Jesus' teachings even when you don't fully understand His ways?
Consider your current challenges, doubts, and uncertainties. How can you actively subject your mind, heart, and soul to the teachings of Jesus amid these circumstances? Reflect on the transformative power of Jesus and His resurrection. How can you allow His power to work through you, even in moments of confusion and limited understanding?
DO THIS: Hold fast to Jesus's teaching till clarity comes.
PRAY THIS: God, in moments of confusion, I seek Your wisdom and guidance. Grant me the faith to hold fast to Your teachings, even when understanding eludes me, and empower me to be a faithful testimony of Your transformative power. Amen.
PLAY THIS: All My Hope.
