Explore programs, apprenticeships, and classes (including timber framing open to anyone): https://www.collegeofstjoseph.com We’re raising a traditional timber-frame home—by hand. On this “raising day,” master craftsmen work shoulder-to-shoulder with our students to lift each bent, set every peg, and revive a building method that once produced homes meant to last centuries. What you’ll see How a timber frame is raised by hand—step by step The tools, joinery, and on-site methods we use (mortise & tenon, pegs, bents, bracing) Apprentices learning in the field alongside experienced craftsmen How the team overcame an unexpected challenge when the concrete foundation arrived out of square—and still finished strong Why it matters For most of history, the trades and the arts built places of beauty and durability. We’re humbly relearning these skills together so we can once again build well-crafted structures that serve families, strengthen communities, and glorify God through beauty and quality workmanship.. Part two of this raising is coming soon. Subscribe and turn on notifications to follow the build and see the finished frame come to life.
